The short version

I'm a one-person business. I don't sell your information, I don't trade it, and I don't share it with anyone beyond the handful of services that actually run this site and its email.

The only personal information I hold about you is what you typed into a form here, plus the anonymous traffic data any website collects.

If you want it removed, email hello@virtualjayne.com and I’ll do it. You don’t need to give a reason.

What this site collects

Three things, and that's the whole list.

When you use the contact form

Your name, email address, business name, the type of project you picked, what you're trying to achieve, and your message.

That gets sent straight to my inbox as an email. It isn't stored in a database on this site — there isn't one. The form also has a hidden field that real people never see; if it gets filled in, the submission is treated as spam and quietly discarded.

When you sign up to the newsletter

Your email address, and nothing else. It's used to send you that newsletter and for no other purpose.

When you just read the site

Standard web analytics, collected through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: which pages you visited, roughly where in the world you are (city level, from your IP address), what device and browser you used, and how you arrived — a search, a link, or directly.

This doesn't tell me who you are. I can see that someone in a given city read a post; I can't see that it was you.

My host also keeps ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses and request times. That's a normal part of running a website securely.

Why I collect it

  • To reply to you when you get in touch.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To see which articles are worth writing more of.
  • To keep the site online, fast and reasonably free of spam.

That's it. There's no profiling, no lead scoring, no selling lists on.

Who else can see it

Running a website means using other companies' infrastructure. These are the ones that touch your information, and what each one does:

  • Resend — delivers the emails the contact form and newsletter sign-up generate.
  • Vercel — hosts the site and keeps the server logs.
  • Google — Tag Manager and Analytics for traffic data, and AdSense for the ads described below.

That's the complete list. Nobody else receives your information, and I don't share enquiry details with other businesses.

Advertising

This site carries Google AdSense advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and they collect that data themselves — it doesn't pass through me, and I don't see who you are as a result of it.

You can turn personalised advertising off at Google My Ad Center, or opt out of third-party ad cookies more broadly at aboutads.info. Google’s own handling of this data is covered by its privacy policy.

Cookies

This site uses two kinds of cookie: analytics cookies, which count visits and show which pages get read, and advertising cookies set by Google as described above. There are no cookies that track you for my benefit beyond those.

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings, and blocking them won't break anything here — the site works fine without them. There's no cookie wall and nothing is withheld if you decline.

How long it's kept

  • Enquiry emails stay in my inbox while they’re relevant to work we’re doing or might do, and for a reasonable period afterwards as a business record. Ask and I’ll delete yours.
  • Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
  • Analytics and advertising data is held by Google under that property’s retention settings, not by me.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of anything I hold about you, ask me to correct it if it's wrong, or ask me to delete it. These are your rights under the Privacy Act 2020, and I'll act on any of them without argument.

Email hello@virtualjayne.com. I’ll respond within a few days — it’s me reading the inbox, not a ticketing system.

To stop receiving the newsletter, reply to any issue and say so, or email the same address.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. I don't collect payment details through this website, and I don't ask for anything sensitive in the contact form — please don't send passwords, account credentials or financial details through it.

No website can promise perfect security. What I can tell you is that the surface here is deliberately small: no user accounts, no customer database, no stored passwords.

Children

This site is aimed at business owners and isn't directed at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There's no version history to dig through — what's on this page is what applies.
